Director David Var accompanied me for a day on Feb 3rd as I returned home from Los Angeles for a sold out solo show in Vancouver. He’s put together a touching and beautifully shot short film documenting the day and concert. He asked audience members to write me letters while at the venue, and then had me read them aloud the following week.
“I feel like there is a lot of strength in softness. And that softness is not only not weakness, it is at the very core of strength: the ability to be soft and subtle and strong at the same time.” Jeez man. Louder for the folks in the back.
Lovely exercise with the letters. Teared up a few times. That new tune is a gem. You've mastered the art of putting light and dark in the same song—that emotional knockout punch of "here's a kind of funny line and before you finish laughing about it he's a full-force gut punch to knock the wind out of you." Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing.
