Hello love,
It is with epic gratitude and excitement that I’ll be going on tour with The Lumineers in Europe next month. There’s no point in playing it cool here - this is probably the biggest opportunity I’ve ever had in my 17 year touring career.
This band did it their way and bent the radio to their instincts rather than trying to fit their music into what was already on the airwaves. Huge respect. Their remarkable achievements were founded in grit and relentlessly great songs. I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Tickets are on sale now!
More amazing news! The Fire Escape music video has been shortlisted for The Prism Prize, which seeks to celebrate the best Canadian music videos each year. There’s a $20K juried Grand Prize, as well as a fan selected $5K Audience Award.
This is the most poignant music video I’ve ever had. Lester’s director vision was cutting, heartfelt and funny. Steven Ogg just completely knocked it out of the park. And let’s not forget appearances from Alison Wright and (my incredible wife) Kirsten Slenning. I’m so proud of this work.
Please take a second to vote for Fire Escape. Maybe we’ll win $5,000???????
ALSO - my dear and hilarious human friend Steven Adams will be supporting the upcoming show in London on June 13th! Some of my first shows in the UK were opening up for his old band The Broken Family Band.
For those not in the know.. I have a song called Peaks & Valleys, and the chorus goes:
Hey Steven, how’s Sally?
How’re the peaks and how’re the valleys?
I’m talking about THIS Steven. I wrote the song for him and his wife Sadie. Unfortunately, “Sadie” doesn’t rhyme with “valley”. I’ve asked Sadie if she’d perhaps change her name to Sally so the song would make more sense. TBC.
Anyhow, I love them very much.
And I love you.
Thank you for your eyes and your ears.
x
Dan
