Some time last year, I discovered Leith Ross on TikTok, thanks to a recommendation from Said The Whale’s Tyler Bancroft. At the time, I thought TikTok was just trap music and viral dances. Turns out there’s a huge community of young songwriters who grew massive audiences during the pandemic posting songs from their bedrooms.
Leith is amazing. Their sincerity. Their directness. Their insanely beautiful voice. Their writing is well beyond their years.
Fast forward through some DM’s of mutual appreciation, we hung out in Toronto this past summer. I mentioned that I’d been having really crazy dreams. Then we talked a lot about dreams, and how weird they are, and how they reflect things in our lives, and how it’s hard not to find them foreboding at times.
And so we wrote this song about a lover seeding chaos in your dreams Inception-style to warn you when they’re annoyed with you.
