I did a three night stand in Penticton earlier this month. In my early touring days, I tried my best to get a gig there at The Dream Cafe, but they wouldn’t book me. I must admit there was some triumph in returning all these years later for 3 shows, each of which sold out immediately. What a lovely little town.
My dear old pal Shane Koyczan joined me for a collab piece each show. To the world, Shane is famous for being an incredible poet and spoken word artist. To me, he’s famous for making everyone cry with his words at my wedding and giving outrageously thoughtful and generous gifts that surely take weeks or months to bring to fruition… and he’s the only person I know who’s managed to make a living selling poetry.
In addition to these performances with Shane, you’ll hear me trying out a few new/unrecorded songs each night, you’ll hear my 11 year old son chirp at me relentlessly throughout a show (to the crowd’s delight), and you’ll hear a bit of ambient restaurant noise as the sound desk was next to the service area.
Below, you’ll also find a recording from my recent solo show way up north in Whitehorse, Yukon Territories at their beautiful arts centre and my favourite ever show in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (which was last night at The Capitol - the crowd REALLY brought it. What a blast.)
These recordings are just for paid subscribers, I’m afraid :)
Enjoy!
