Hello love,
I’ve gathered some pals and we’re announcing an evening of excruciating talent:
May 18th
Dan Mangan & Friends w/ Mae Martin, Ben Lee, Lauren Ruth Ward & Steven Ogg
Dynasty Typewriter
Los Angeles, CA
Limited tickets are available in-person at Dynasty Typewriter in LA.
Livestream tickets are also available should you like to watch from elsewhere in the world (with replay available for 7 days).
I first discovered Mae Martin via their show Feel Good. I loved it so much that I DM’d them. Since then, I’ve seen Mae perform a bunch of times and I can’t believe how funny they are whilst remaining earnest and humble and human. Their new Netflix comedy special SAP is truly wonderful. Great hair.
Ben Lee has always infused comedy and tragedy into his music. I love his approach to life. He doesn’t take himself very seriously, which somehow helps his very serious songwriting talents shine all the more. He’s a legend.
I met Lauren Ruth Ward through Mae and listened to her music a bunch online, but this will be my first time seeing her perform. I love how her new song Suburban Ego wanders wistfully and patiently - it’s really beautiful.
And Steven Ogg. The Ogg dog. My dear kindred homie. You’ve seen him in Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead, & Snowpiercer, (not to mention the Fire Escape video!). We met in the late 1800s at a cold plunge competition. The first one to die of hypothermia won, which was me, obviously. I love his mayhem, his love, and his poetry.
I am SO excited for these USA shows in May, and I have some EXTREMELY AWESOME NEWS to share with you regarding where I’ll be (and with whom) in the month of June, but I can’t spill it quite yet. More soon.
A bunch of shows for this fall’s Going Somewhere Tour are sooooo close to selling out. More on that soon, also.
Thank you for your eyes and your ears.
x
Dan

I just want to second the idea that Mae Martin’s Netflix special is worth the watch. Great storytelling. Love them.
