Hello love,
I've got an exciting music announcement that is not quiiiiiiite ready. It'll come in the next few weeks so stay tuned... but in the meantime, I wanted to let you know that (with my tail between my legs) I've joined TikTok. It has scared the crap out of me for ages - "oh god, another platform adopted by the youth that I need to learn how to use and which requires an endless stream of content so people don't forget that I exist."
But I have to admit, after milling around on there for a bit, it's not all bad. Instagram connects you with your people, but actively limits your reach in hopes that you'll advertise. TikTok does the opposite - it sends your videos beyond your followers to new people and attracts new eyes to what you're doing, which is kind of cool. Of course, it's only a matter of time before TikTok decides they want to make bank and it becomes giant billboard just like the rest of the internet, but for now, I've been posting lots of little snippets of songs, stories, and even a few teasers of new material.
ALL TOGETHER NOW??
Yes! The documentary is still available online! I've gotten a number of DM's from folks asking if they can still see it even though they missed the premiere and the answer is YES YES YES. It's available "on demand" until December 31st, and you can nab a ticket to watch it any time you like until then.
ALSO - there will be REAL IN PERSON THEATRICAL screenings of the doc:
VANCOUVER - Nov 15 @ VIFF Centre Vancity Theatre - Presented by VIFF. I'll be there in my real flesh human body to do a Q&A afterward with director Andy Huculiak (and perhaps some others from the crew)
KAMLOOPS - Nov 26 @ Paramount Theatre - presented by Kamloops Film Society. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this screening, personally.
REAL EVENTS, YOU SAY??
TORONTO
Yes! Though Nov 22nd at The Danforth Music Hall was previously "sold out", we've released a handful more tickets in light of the recent relaxing of capacity restrictions in Ontario. They're moving quick and there are probably less than 50 left. I'm gonna freak the F out on that stage, good god.
KITCHENER
I've also been told that there are also some tickets still available for Nov 23rd at Centre In The Square. BOTH of these Ontario shows will be supported by Georgia Harmer who is simply one of my favourite new songwriters and her voice is from the heavens. She's incredible and you will love her.
There are other fun things on the horizon. More expansive tour announcements. Music announcements. But for the time being, this has been more than enough text for your eyeballs, I'm sure.
As always, thanks for your ears and your eyes.
Much love,
x
Dan
