Hello love,
I played a few solo shows this year, and each one was particularly special and unique in that "could never be exactly that again" kind of way. Without fail, after playing four or five songs, I'd just ditch the set list and ask what people wanted to hear. Playing alone means I can tell longwinded stories and dig deep into the catalog.
One of these solo shows went for nearly 3 hours - they just wouldn't let me leave. Particularly in a post(ish)-pandemic world, it certainly felt like I was back where I belonged. The DC show is free, and more information about advance reservations will come in December.
Of course, we will do a big bash up full-band tour in support of my new album Being Somewhere (drops Oct 28), but a handful of intimate shows in very small clubs in select cities seemed like an inspired way to dip my toes in the dead of winter.

Thanks for all the love regarding Just Know It! Pianist Thomas Bartlett (The National, Taylor Swift) is the star here. His performance completely transformed what I thought the song was.
Just Know It is about shooting yourself in the foot, told from the foot's perspective. We are held hostage at the fringes by social echo chambers and cognitive bias. We are so averse to see the other side achieve a win, we would rather that all sides lose.
I posted on socials that the song needed a "canvas" for Spotify (the little videos that play in the background on your phone while a song streams) and more than 50 people uploaded clips! It's awesome because now I can switch out the canvas every few days and tag the creator who sent each one in. If you've got a clip you'd like to share, you'll find instructions HERE.
